Hand-Stitched Zipper Pouch Sewing Workshop

Local artist and certified sewing instructor Leslie Guglielmo will lead this 2-session workshop, teaching basic stitch techniques to assemble a useful, personalized zipper pouch. Participants will learn and master three distinct stitch styles--running (including basting), backstitch, and overcasting--to finish their seams and apply the zipper. They will have the opportunity to further embellish their pouches with personalized zipper pulls and sashiko patches. This class will include personalized instructions for each student to achieve fine stitching techniques with the opportunity to take home practice materials. No sewing experience is necessary and all materials will be provided. Participants are required to attend both sessions.This 90-minute event is free and open to tweens and teens in rising grades 6 through 12.
