RISE UP! Protest Sign-Making Workshop

Ages 11-18 yearsIt's Banned Book Week! What a perfect time to create powerful art and words, drawing attention to the idea of censorship and other global issues. Based on Rise Up: Powerful Protests in American History (words by Rachel C. Katz & art by Sophie Bass), we'll make SIGNS using the book's artwork as prompts for our eye-catching designs & snappy slogans. This FUN workshop will incorporate examples of protests from throughout US history (MA especially) when rights were challenged and wrongs repaired. As the book says: “Protest is American by definition!”Note: Participants are not required to use the Banned Books Week theme “Let Books Be — Protect the Freedom to Read” as their rallying cry; they may choose anything they feel needs attention as the incentive for their design.Copies of the book are available for check-out in both the Juvenile and YA Non-Fiction stacks. Participants will be entered into a drawing for a copy of the book - we have two(2) to give away!No regist
